S1W6: Dedicated Go Green Week Planning 1

Tuesday 27th October 2020 from 15.15 to 18.15 using the virtual classroom in Blackboard collaborate

In today’s session we will begin the process of designing Go Green Week 2021. This will entail a number of activities that will hopefully set you on your path to understanding how you will all work as one team and within this nested in separate teams to design and deliver a week celebrating sustainability and inspiring change.

As we are contending with Covid this year’s Go Green Week will be very different and we will need to ensure it is Covid safe for everyone involved. To that end, we have checked with Senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Students) Ross Renton how we should be approaching it. Below is his advice. I have bolded the advice in relation to bringing on external experts as this is very important.

Go Green Week
It was agreed that Go Green Week in February 2021 could be planned as a blended approach, i.e. online with some physical, on-campus elements. The on-campus activities could be a self-guided walk on the University Mile or an exhibition on campus. RR was clear that external visitors coming to the site should be at a minimum, e.g. to provide a specialist skills workshop to students. The activities would be available to students and staff only in order to minimise external presence on-campus. KB to draft a risk assessment for the activities, which should take place outdoors as much as possible.
It was confirmed that the Union Square marquee is bookable via Estates.
